Contacts in Salesforce are either borrowers, partners, or recruits. This article shows how to create a new borrower.
Check out the How to Create a New Partner article! To add a new recruit, you would follow the same instructions as how to add a borrower (just select to add a "Recruit"). See also the Recruit class in Guild University.

Create a New Lead
Create a new lead (transaction) and Borrower(s) easily from any page in Salesforce by selecting the "Add New Lead" button located in the lower left-hand corner.
1) Clicking on this Add New Lead button opens a pop-up for quick access to creating a Borrower!
Tip! Click on the icon in the upper right-hand corner to pop out the tab into a new window.
2) Additional fields appear to enter Contact & Lead Source, Value & Loan Amount, Contact Information, and Co-Borrower info (if applicable) to create the new Lead. Enter all required info to move forward.
3) Click Next, you will be directed to the Transaction (the Borrower and Household have been created)!
Add a different LO to a Borrower Contact
If an LO is given a referral from a Guild employee or has a past client that is now purchasing property in a state that LO is not licensed in, the steps below assist in listing the referred LO as a Team Member on the Borrower's contact page.
1) The current Primary Owner of the Borrower Record begins by selecting Record History on the contact page. Then selecting New under Contact Team.
2) Enter the referred Loan Officer's name under Contact Team Member, and select Team Member from the Type drop-down. Click Save.
The new LO now has the ability to Add a Transaction by selecting New Transaction in the top right0hand corner of the contact page. Note: The new LO will be the owner of the that Transaction, but not of the Borrower Record.
Transfer a Borrower to another LO
In Salesforce, Borrower Records (and Public Partner Records) can only be assigned to one Loan Officer / Contact Team. If a Borrower (or Partner) starts working with a different Loan Officer, from whom they were initially assigned, they can be transferred within the system!
Request a Transfer
If there is a working relationship with the Loan Officer that currently owns the contact, reach out about changing ownership.
If unsure about reaching out directly to the LO, to arrange a transfer, contact either of the following:
- Salesforce Cosultants - SFConsultants@guildmortgage.net
Note: Follow these same steps to request a transfer of an LO's Public Partner Record.
Transfer a Borrower Record
If the current owner receives a request to transfer a Borrower Record (or their Public Partner Record), they can do so by clicking on the icon next to their name as the Primary Owner.
The Change Contact Owner pop-up displays. Search for the new owner of the Record. Check the box Send notification email to send an email update to the New Owner. Then click Change Owner.
Note: ONLY the Primary Owner can perform this change. Members of their Contact Team do not have this permission.
Add a Transaction to an Existing Borrower Contact
To add a Transaction to an existing Borrower Contact, follow the steps below:
1) Locate the contact by utilizing the top search or from within your Contact Lists.
2) Select New Transaction.
3) The Transaction Information defaults to the Loan Officer and the Account Household who owns that contact. If that is not correct information, you can change the Account Name, Loan Officer, & Branch in the New Transaction that was just created.
4) Update any additional information needed for the Transaction, and click Save.
Wait! There's a Shortcut!
To add a Transaction to an Existing Borrower Contact from the top search bar, follow the steps below:
1) Search for the Borrower Contact in the top search bar. You can hover over the search results for additional information, including contact information, as well as the Contact Owner.
2) From the information that displays to the right of the search results, click New Transaction.
Once Steps 1-2 are complete, follow Steps 3-4 from the previous section.
Avoid duplicates!
When searching the Salesforce to see if there is already an existing contact (borrower), do not use the search bar at the top of the page!
The search feature will only search what you have access to! Instead use the search function on the create New Contact screen. If there is a borrower that populates as already being owned, reach out to the owner of the record to be added to the Contact Team.
